Beautiful People #20: Appearance Edition

I am participating again in this month's Beautiful People linkup, hosted as always by Cait @ Paper Fury and Skye @ Further Up & Further In. This time, since you are all probably curious about the antagonist of my series, and I spend way too much time on Eli and Nor, I am doing this one on Okori Alijihi.

1. Give a brief overview of their looks (Include a photo if you want)
Okori, or Kori, as I like to call her, has really dark, glossy, wavy, shoulder-length black hair, violet eyes, and warm, sort of dark brown skin. She usually wears a simple tunic style dress that hits her knees, with trousers underneath.

2. Share a snippet that involves description of their appearance.

“What is it?” Okori asked, not looking up from her reports. Hallis didn’t answer, struck by his wife anew. She still appeared much the same as, when so many years ago, he had looked up and noticed his sister’s best friend. Her thick, wavy, black hair was still as dark, her warm umber skin still as free of wrinkles, and—as she looked up—her violet eyes as sharp as ever.

3. What is the first thing someone might notice about them?
Probably her eyes--violet is a rather striking eye color, after all. Kind of just her in general. She is very charismatic and gives off an intimidating air, and knows how to draw people's eyes. Also her voice. It's very deep, with a warm tone and she knows how to project.

4. What are their unique features? (ex: freckles, big ears, birthmark, scars, etc.)
She has a very long, aquiline nose, violet eyes (sorry for repeating this so many times!), and a raised scar on one of her finger tips. She also has a few, fairly faded scars on her face. She has other scars, but they're not necessary to mention because they're not in places where some one would normally notice them. If she is out in the sun a lot--which hasn't been a regular occurrence since she was a child--she gets very faint freckles across the bridge of her nose.

5. How tall are they? What is their build (ex: stocky, slender, petite, etc.)?
She is about 6"3, so pretty tall. She's curvy. but still pretty slender.

6. What is their posture like? How do they carry themselves?
Kori has very, very good posture. She carries herself regally and confidently.

7. Your character has been seen on a "lazy day" (free from usual expectations/routines): what are they wearing and how do they look?
I'm not really sure how this character would manage to have a lazy day (she has a ton of responsibilities and obligations) but if by some weird happenstance she was to have one, she would probably be wearing a yata (a dress/robe that is very common for recreation and rest across her entire world) in one of her favorite colors: garnet, chocolate brown, or violet. She wouldn't have any jewelry on except for her wedding ring. Her hair might be slightly messy, and she would probably have a relaxed and welcoming expression on her face.

8. Do they wear glasses, accessories, or jewelry on a regular basis? Do they have any article of clothing or accessory that could be considered their trademark?
Yes, she always has some jewelry on. There are three things that could probably be considered her trademark: her colorful bangles, the wedding ring she always wears on a cord around her neck, and her long, darkly colored tunic dresses with borders of a lighter version of the same color.

9. Have they ever been bullied or shamed because of their looks? Explain!
No, not really. I mean, she lived in the land of the Wise Ones (fae), as a child and they could clearly tell she wasn't one, and were sometimes aloof, but any time that it came close, her foster-parents, who were very powerful, stepped in.

!0. Are they happy with how they look? If they could change anything about their appearance, what would it be?
Yes. If she could change anything, she would probably get rid of her scars, because they remind her of things that make her feel angry, sad, and ashamed all at once.

Well, that is Kori! Hopefully you learned a little about her personality as well! I hope you also found it fascinating and/or engaging. If you'd like to participate in this linkup, pop over to Paper Fury or Further Up and Further In
